Il Casello Country House B&B offers accommodation in bed and breakfast rooms in the characteristic stone built Tuscan farmhouse as well as apartments in the old hayloft across the stone flagged courtyard.
The structure is fully air-conditioned and the traditional architectural features such as hand-made terracotta floors, the brick vaults and arches and the chestnut-wood roof beams have been maintained throughout the buildings.
Il Casello is surrounded by wonderful gardens with panoramic terraces where guests can relax and enjoy their evening glass of Chianti.
At the lower end of the gardens is the 14 x 7mt. saltwater pool and sunbathing area with splendid views over the valley. There are also a ping-pong table and a children’s play area for the use of our guests.
The bus stop for Florence is less than 3 minutes walk away along the SR222 "Chiantigiana" wine road, making Il Casello an ideal base, even without a car.
The 11 bedrooms all have double-glazing, sound-proof doors, air-conditioning and heating. Each room is tastefully furnished with antiques and equipped with satellite television, VCR, minibar and telephone. There are wonderful views over the fabulous Chianti countryside. A hairdryer is provided in the bathroom.
The buffet breakfast, which is included in the cost of the B&B rooms, is prepared in the main dining room but guests are welcome to take breakfast out on the terrace during the warmer months.
The old hay loft has been converted into three apartments, offering self-catering accommodation for 2 – 8 guests in 1 or 2 bedroom apartments each with a living room, well-equipped kitchen, satellite TV with VCR, air conditioning, heating. The bathrooms are decorated with hand-painted tiles and have a hydromassage tub, shower and hairdryer. Outside each apartment is a terrace area with tables and chairs for dining ‘al fresco’.
The staff in the reception area are on hand throughout the day and evening and are happy to give local tourist information, suggestions for walks around the area, arrange museum or restaurant reservations and serve drinks and snacks upon request. Evening meals can be provided upon request.
Our guests are very welcome to use the barbeque to prepare an evening meal which can be enjoyed out on the main terrace by candle light during the warm summer months.
Within walking distance of the house you can visit a local vineyard or take an excursion on horse back.
There are regular buses to and from the centre of Florence. The nearest tennis court is in Greve, five minute’s drive away and the Ugolino golf course is just a 15 minute drive away along the “Chiantigiana” road.
